MOVEMENT THERAPY

Movement therapy can be described as having two aspects or meanings. There's the psycological aspect and the physical aspect. The first is about our inhibitions, beliefs and feelings around our bodies and the expression we channel through them. Working with our present perceptions around movement plays an intricate role in the freedom of our dance. Secondly, the physical aspect is about analyzing the technicalities within our body mechanics. Assessing what muscles or body parts are out of alignment can be extremely helpful when learning to move without limits.

BASIC YOGA

This is a good beginners class or for those who would like to work on assessment in some of the simpler yoga postures. We will work with the breath in each posture learning how to tune in more deeply to our body mind connection This class will introduce the groundwork necessary for a solid foundation when practicing asana(postures). Pranayama (breathwork) will also be introduced as an integral part. The benefits from this class and /or a consistent practice are amazing, from postural improvements to clarity of mind and increased will power, relief from anxiety, and many more. ASTANGA

Astanga classes are for those who are ready for a more vigorous workout. It is a series of postures done in a continuous motion in synchronization with the breathe, usually lasting from 1.5 to 2 hrs. Although it is not required, It is suggested that one have some basic experience of yoga before attempting this class. We will work with your pace while learning the routine. In addition to the benefits listed in the above section astanga practice will improve muscle tone, increase circulation and aid detoxificaton of the whole system. BELLYDANCE BASICS

Bellydance basics offers a unique opportunity to learn to move more freely from the core. It warms and opens the hips, belly and whole spine, as we learn to move around our center. Bellydance is also a great way to get in touch with your inner divine feminine self as well as the earth, and discover the sacred energy that can be channeled through movement. This class is very fun and easy for dancers of all levels.

MOVEMENT THERAPY

Movement therapy classes may have more of a spontaneous flow and are very interactive. We will use various excersizes and techniques to address either the phisycal or psycological aspect of movement or both. The movement therapy session is a great one to combine with any of the therapeutic bodywork sessions.
